Description

Delivering in More Ways Than One

At first glance, the Abound may seem like it’s better for couriers and delivery drivers, but that’s not the case. Aventon have paid particular attention to make this bike as practical and useful as possible to many. While it’s undoubtedly the best option for Australia’s delivery riders, if you’ve been looking for a genuine alternative to driving around, but found that the lack of storage space on other e-bikes leaves you wanting, the Abound is your solution.

Doing the weekly grocery shopping? Don’t worry - it will all fit in the back. Picking something up from a nearby friend’s house? That’ll fit too. Taking young kids to school? There’s even an attachment that turns the rear rack into a child carriage.

Plus, thanks to its torque sensor, suspension and frame design, the Abound actually feels surprisingly like a normal electric bike even when carrying cargo.

For the first time, it’s actually feasible for some people to leave the car at home in favour of riding.

Features

Torque Sensor

The Abound ships with a torque sensor, giving you instant feedback from your pedalling while also providing smooth & safe acceleration. As some riders will be transporting kids, this is really important, but even for delivery riders, this means any goods will remain safe and undamaged. If you want to know more about how it feels to ride a bike with a torque sensor, .

Multiple Accessories

The Abound is the Swiss-Army knife of electric bikes. Thanks to its long-tailed rear storage rack and various mounting points, you can add:

  • Rear basket
  • Front rack
  • Seat pad
  • Rear handrail (for kids to hold on to)
  • Rear panniers
  • Large front storage bag
  • Large front basket
  • Duffel Bag

Those are all optional extras, but you’ll also find the Abound comes with front & rear fenders, an in-frame storage bag, and rear running boards down the sides that can be used as foot rests as standard.

Full Lighting

Aventon takes safety seriously, which is why the Abound ships with full lighting including a brake light and turn signals.

Hydraulic Braking

The Abound can carry 200 kg, and 64 kg of that can be supported on the rear rack alone. Due to the additional weight the Abound can carry, it’s important to have powerful brakes. That’s why the Abound comes with full hydraulic disc brakes as standard.

The Little Things Add Up

Aventon’s speciality has always been in its attention to detail; the little features that add together to make excellent electric bikes. The Abound is no stranger to this. From the ‘Dropper’ seat post that can be adjusted by pulling a handle (think of an office chair) instead of a quick release, the dual-leg stand that keeps the bike upright while not in use, the folding handlebars, puncture-resistant tyres with reflective sidewalls, removable battery or Aventon’s sleek frame welding, it’s no surprise that the Abound has been nicknamed an SUV with pedals.

Top of the Market

Just like utility vehicles & vans, cargo bikes are expensive. They are bigger and heavier but certainly less comfortable while their motors are barely enough to handle the weight they are designed to carry. For example, the ‘Dutch Basket’ style of cargo bike with the basket on the front is one of the most popular styles in the world, but it handles like a bus. Plus, you’re lucky to find a “good” one under $4,000. While cargo bikes in a similar style to the Abound are available as well, the prices start at $5,000.

That’s not the case with the Abound - it’s a major step up from most cargo bikes and comes at a significantly lower price point. But you’re not getting any less of a bike. What you’re getting is a practical, safe, versatile and incredibly well-built ride with an abundance of attachments that make them a genuine alternative to driving the car.
